The “Notion” of Straight Pride

It’s a fallacy.  It’s arrogant.  It’s ill-informed.
Privilege.  White Privilege.  It’s literally everywhere.
Los Angeles.  El Paso.  Atlanta.  Chicago.  Seattle.  New York City.
Overseas?  Probably. Most likely.
White Supremacy.  Nationalists.  White Nationalists.
White people.
Wow.  Really?  SERIOUSLY???
When was the last time, or even the first time, you as a straight man were marginalized for being a straight man?

  • Because of your skin color?
  • Your ethnicity?
  • Your race?

I can do this all day, dude.

  • Religion?
  • Orientation?
  • Gender?
  • Being denied your voting rights?
  • Being denied housing?
  • Being racially profiled by law enforcement officers?
  • Being denied bank loans on the basis of your income level as a straight man?
  • Being denied bank loans on the basis of being a straight man?
  • On the basis of physical impairment, or disability?
  • Denied a marriage license?
  • Been the victim of racial gerrymandering, taking away your voting rights?

What is it that’s missing from these privileged white men’s lives that they feel the need to participate in a Straight Pride Parade, or even mention, or allude to the need for “straight pride”?
Are they that delicate?  Are they that shallow? Are they that insecure?  Are they that arrogant?
Are you so afraid of gay men/women that you have to lash out at them?  Maybe questioning your own sexuality?  Probably.  Definitely.
Are any of their last names “Trump”?  Did Mommy NOT call you a prince often enough in your youth?  Did Jeeves NOT powder your delicate, pink bottom often enough as a baby?
White men have run this country, the United States, for over 250 years, the current one is running it into the ground!  You may have noticed.
It’s way passed time that someone else stepped up and took over the reins.  The time of the Brett Kavanaughs, the Donald J. Trumps, the Roy Moores, the Mitch McConnells and others is well passed.
Straight Pride Parade.  White Privilege.  Done. Over. Finished. Fini. Gone.  You’ve worn out your welcome here.  It’s time for a minority to step up and take the lead.
A parade?  For what?  Seriously, for what?
Isn’t it already a white pride event during every football season, basketball season, hunting season?  Don’t those count as straight male-bonding-chest pounding pride events?  Pretty sure there are gallons and gallons of suds consumed at those white pride events, that’s the typical/normal beverage served.

This is Mark Sahady, the genius, man, straight-pride maven and vice president of the website, Super Happy Fun America, www.superhappyfunamerica.com.  I mean, even that name sounds incredibly gay.  Just sayin’…
You know, looking at this picture of Marky, Mr. Sahady, he appears to be a pretty healthy, redneck, beer guzzlin’ white boy/man.  Which sort of begs to question: What exactly brings you fear in regards to gays, lesbians, transgender individuals, so much fear that you feel the need to REQUIRE the city of Boston to grant you permission to hold a “Straight Pride” Parade?
Mark Sahady

This is from their main page where the mantra is “It’s great to be straight!”:
Super Happy Fun America advocates on behalf of the straight community in order to build respect, inclusivity, equality, diversity, unity, solidarity, dignity, social mobility, empowerment, sustainability, justice, awareness, intersectionality, human rights, education, access, participation, dialogue, visibility, tolerance, and alliances with people from all walks of life.  We encourage everyone to embrace our community’s diverse history, culture, and identity regardless of sexual orientation.
“Straight people are an oppressed majority. We will fight for the right of straights everywhere to express pride in themselves without fear of judgement and hate. The day will come when straights will finally be included as equals among all of the other orientations.” – John Hugo, President of Super Happy Fun America
“We will educate the public about straight issues and foster unity and respect by having a parade.” – Mark Sahady, Vice President of Super Happy Fun America
--------------
It’s kind of odd scrolling through the various pages because it doesn’t appear so much to be hate-related as much as it is their version of a get-in-touch-with-your-straightness site… like that’s a thing or necessary.  Kind of contradictory.  Don’t let that fool you.  There IS hate in them thar pages, on that there site!
Now, if you check out his Facebook page, he does post pro-Trump, white supremacist memes, remarks and photos like this:
Mark Sahady & Friend displaying White Supremacist hand gesture "W"

If you’re aren’t familiar with it, and I wasn’t, that’s a white supremacist hand gesture on the right.
I think it’s pretty safe to say that most of the country, the USA, is geared toward white, straight men.  It’s everywhere, which makes their site (Super Happy Fun America) even more unnecessary and well, ridiculous.
Lastly, he’s a member of the Proud Boys & a ‘Resist Marxism’ Organization:

More far right, white supremacist, good old fashioned racism and hate.
Click on the link for “Home” at the top of their main page and down to Straight Pride Flag.
You’ll see this, along with a brief description of local politics at work:
Straight Pride Flag
It looks suspiciously like the more common, bisexual pride flag.  Coincidence?

The Blue and Pink flag, which has represented our community for over 0.4 years, is integral to our movement.  Unfortunately, the City of Boston has discriminated against our sexual orientation by denying us the opportunity to raise the flag at City Hall.  We will continue to fight for equality until the Walsh administration embraces our community and a more progressive vision of the future.

Oh, those poor civil servants in the Walsh Administration.

Super Happy Fun America does offer some merch, but I don’t want to spoil all of the “super happy fun” for you. You’ll have to endure, I mean, check it out for yourself!  Super Happy Fun!
(Yeah, alright, I have to say something here. Again:  Sounds incredibly gay.)
I’m pretty sure the flag that you really want to fly during your parade is this one:

No need to reinvent the wheel, right?

***UPDATE***

As of 08/31/2019, there was still a Straight Pride planned in the city of Boston, MA.  And as far as their "corporate sponsorship", well this is what came up in a search on their superhappyfunamerica.com website:

Many of the "sponsors" were blindsided at being mentioned on the Super Happy Fun America website without prior knowledge or consent. ("Oops!  Our bad!!")

I'm sure that was simply an oversight on the part of S.H.F.A.  Had to be, right?
