Open Letter To Texas Governor Greg Abbott

Dear Gov. Greg Abbott:

I read online on Sunday, September 1, 2019, that you made a statement to the effect that “I am tired of the dying,” or some similar remark, in regards to gun violence in Texas and/or gun violence in general.

  1. No, you aren’t, Greg.  You really aren’t.  Not yet at least.
  2. Why do people need assault weapons, capable of shoot multiple rounds per minute?
  3. “Praying” for the dying to stop… seriously???
  4. Why don’t you, as governor of Texas actually step up, and put forth some legislation regarding assault weapon bans, limited rounds per clip, and responsible gun registration for ALL gun owners?  Where is the accountability on the part of gun owners in Texas?  Where is it, Greg?
  5. NO ONE is talking about “taking weapons from cold, dead hands.” NO ONE, Greg.  Likewise, NO ONE is suggesting that, only strengthening existing gun laws and further accountability.
  6. And c’mon, Greg, you know as well as anyone, there is zero correlation between mental health issues and mass shootings.  If you truly, honestly and seriously aren’t aware of that, please, for your constituents, WAKE UP.  Texans deserve better than you.
And when you come to your senses, and wake up, step away from the NRA and President Trump.
What will it take, Gov. Abbott?  A death in YOUR family?

Hope you had a great Labor Day!

Why Are Republicans So Slow Regarding Trump?

Why Is It Taking Republicans So Long
To Figure Out Who Donald Trump REALLY Is?

It amazes me how easy it is for Republicans/Right Wingers/Conservatives/some Evangelicals to look the other way, turn the other cheek, simply walk away and even try to defend Donald Trump.

Simply astonishing!

Have they just forgotten all of his lies, backroom deals, and shady behaviors over the past 4 decades?

Have they been asleep at the wheel?  Unconscious? Or just flat-out stupid?

Granted, no, not ALL of Trump’s past behaviors have been illegal, but most have been highly questionable.  (“I never settle a lawsuit.” – Yeah, he does. Regularly.)

More and more of them, Republicans, are either
a) leaving the Republican party,
b) leaving politics altogether,
c) leaving Washington D.C.,
d) switching parties to become Democrats (Yay for that!), or
e) speaking out against him… finally.

And this wasn’t an overnight Exodus either.
It was a very slow moving train, sort of like an old, ancient white Bronco caravan fleeing town via the L.A. freeway.

But again, why now?

Yes, rhetorical questions obviously, but maybe something to examine in more depth?

It just really looks like Republicans haven’t been paying attention to their God, er, um, Trump.

RNC Spokesperson, Kayleigh McEnany
(Kinda seems like an older, dumber, “blonder” version of Tomi Lahren)

-- Appeared on a radio show hosted by Tony Perkins, president of the Southern Poverty Law Center-designated hate group Family Research Council. She appeared on the same episode as Ken Williams, co-founder of the so-called “ex-gay” resource group Equipped to Love, who spoke in opposition to a California bill seeking to outlaw conversion therapy.

-- Dismissed claims of marriage discrimination prior the Supreme Court’s marriage ruling as nothing more than “farcical blabber.”

-- Argued against transgender bathroom access on the basis that “that this could be utilized by some men, for instance, to go into female bathrooms, it’s happened at Target, which does have the same policy in place. Voyeurism issues where cameras were put by men taking advantage of the policies, not transgender individuals, men, straight men coming in and really being a predator against women.”

-- Argued that the Supreme Court’s ruling on marriage equality is a threat to religious rights.

-- Used another CNN appearance to frame transgender bathroom access as a threat to women and little girls.

-- Said it was it “awesome” that late Justice Antonin Scalia criticized a pro-marriage equality ruling.

-- Dismissed openly gay CNN anchor Don Lemon’s concerns about Mike Pence’s anti-LGBTQ views by saying “Mike Pence loves all people.” (video starts at 2:00)

-- Called modern feminism is an “embarrassment,” suggesting that “the feminists of today reduce women to their sexuality, and in doing so, set women’s rights back by huge strides.”

-- Disputed that having women in active combat is nothing more than the “radical agenda” of feminists; in the same post, she criticized “award shows, where Hollywood was trying to ban gender-based awards.”

Personally, my take on Kayleigh, well, I’d take her with a grain of salt and just dismiss her.  She’s yet another talking head that, in time, Uncle Donny will grow tired of her and cast her off the bus by throwing her under it.
She’s the ripe, old age of 31, and honestly, hasn’t earned her “adult” speaking chops yet which is a sad state of affairs in and of itself since she’s an attorney, maybe even a practicing attorney.
